Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

The east side of Zion National Park is the perfect place to stay when visiting the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  Although there are several entrances to the, almost 2-million acre Grand Staircase, the Glendale Bench entrance is one of the most scenic and rustic.  It is located across the road from the Buffalo Bistro, 9 miles from the junction of Highways 9 & 89.  It takes time to travel the dirt roads of the Staircase so gauge your time well.

Skutumpah Road - Scenic Backway
Experience the Grand Staircase-Escalante by driving from Bryce Canyon to Zion National Park or visa versa on Skutumpah Road that runs through the Staircase.  This backway is a dirt road and like most of the roads in the monument, it may be impassible when wet. Stop and hike Willis Creek, Lick Wash and Bull Valley Gorge along the way.  Wilderness camping is allowed in the Staircase.
